DON'T MISS OUT ON THE FUN!
TOTS - Eat Canned Food Drive
October 31
2 - 5 pm
When: Usually October 31 - Halloween Night and two weeks prior

TOTS Eat is a national community service program for International Thespian member schools to collect canned and dry goods for local charities and food banks. Since the campaign began in 2003, Thespian troupes have collected and distributed more than four million pounds of food to help their neighbors in need.
While this is an National Event, the food donations collected in our community will go to benefit the Skyhawk Food Pantry. David Neislanik, SRHS Principal says, “We are extremely grateful to our Skyhawk Theatre and Troupe 6012 for the time and effort they give to help combat hunger and need in our Skyhawk Family and our Southridge community. We also appreciate everyone who donates non-perishable items to our families." Skyhawk Theatre and Thespian Troupe 6012 support the TOTS- Eat program because we all can agree that 'hunger is a very scary thing.’

The Skyhawk Theatre and Troupe 6012 (pending district approval) will continue our Halloween Night collection drive with the Tots-Eat Program this year. We need it more this year than before with Covid-19 still impacting our families. Look for flyers and a bag on your door, during mid-October and place your items on your step on Halloween evening after 3:30pm. We will do the rest.
Oregon Food Bank
OFB planning
is currently in process.
TBD
Hoping to reboot a longstanding tradition, (sadly Covid and scheduling has denied this for the years 20-23) the Skyhawk Theatre and Thespian Troupe 6012 schedules an evening of service in November to volunteer food packing assistance at the Beaverton site of the Oregon Food Bank, because we also believe food is a basic human right.

Citing the OFB website "Hunger is not just an empty stomach or an individual experience. Hunger is a community wide symptom of exclusion, of not having enough – not having enough nutritious food, enough income, enough power, enough represented voice. Hunger is a symptom of barriers to employment, education, housing and healthcare.
We all experience the effects of hunger in our communities. But together we can build communities that never go hungry. We can build communities where every voice matters. We can build communities that share responsibility for each other and the common good. Because, when we share prosperity, we all benefit."

Skyhawk Theatre and Troupe 6012 have decided to help "achieve this bold vision" and build community connections by helping organizations like the Oregon Food Bank provide access to nutritious food and begin the process to eliminate hunger.

Performance Events
The Skyhawk Theatre and Thespian Troupe 6012 takes pride in arranging regular troupe events in which we attend feeder school (Conestoga, Whitford, and HIghland) and fellow Thespian school's theatre performances throughout the year.

We have developed great friendships with other troupes around the region and created lasting thespian bonds of support. We gather together at the event and represent en masse Skyhawk Theatre and Troupe 6012. Thespians Troupes support each other and we intend to continue to do just that - support our fellow Troupes.

Athletic Events
The Skyhawk Theatre and Thespian Troupe 6012 takes pride in arranging regular troupe events in which we attend our schools athletic events. Our biggest events are the Andrew J. Keller Memorial Football game in which our troupe wears our best red, white and blue or camo to support our fallen alumni soldier; homecoming game, and Cram the Cage. We intend to spread our reach into other events as well.

Our mission is to redevelop bonds and friendships with athletes within the school and create some lasting bonds of support from our fellow students athletes. We gather together at the events and represent en masse Skyhawk Theatre and Troupe 6012.
Production Events
The Skyhawk Theatre and Thespian Troupe 6012 takes participation seriously during production and performance season. We do, also have a fun and crazy side as well when it comes to production events.

We have Opening night encouragements, and cast parties, Friday tradition, and Mom-lucks to name a few. We highly encourage and recommend participation in these events as they are a time to unwind and get to know your fellow thespians in a way other than on the boards. These events bring the thespians and supporters and parents together and bonds develop when you least expect it.
STARGazing
Awards
Night
The Skyhawk Theatre and Thespian Troupe 6012 has a long-standing tradition that withstood Covid-closure 2020 and CDL/Hybrid 2021 which takes place every spring on the Friday evening prior to Graduation. This evening event hosted by the Thespian Juniors is the time for the department to look back and to celebrate the successes of the year and to really honor the seniors of that year. This year we all will have a lot to celebrate as theatre returns to 'normal'; work sessions return to 'normal'; and our program returns to 'normal.'
This thematic, formal evening event is very much like the Tony awards and will return in person with all its original glitz and glamour. This evening takes place in two parts - the dinner in the fishbowl at 5 pm and the awards in the auditorium at 7 pm. This evening is mixed with entertainment, laughter and tears, but all in the honor of Thespians. During this event no one leaves without recognition as everyone who attends has done their part to make Skyhawk Theatre flourish during the current year.
